The Mac and Linux versions used MonoGame and were developed with MonoDevelop. No 3rd party engines were used. It was developed in C# with Microsoft XNA Game Studio using Visual Studio C# Express.
Solar 2 took me 10 months to develop for Windows and Xbox and an addition 3 months to develop for Mac and Linux.
